WISTING – AN AMBITIOUS NEW CRIME SHOW

Information

GoodCo and the Norwegian production company Cinenord have teamed up to produce a Norwegian crime series based on the bestselling books serie by Jørn Lier Horst about the police officer William Wisting. It will be a character driven crime series with Wisting at the center of the story. The series will take place in Norway with its unique landscape and changing seasons.

WISTING – AN AMBITIOUS NEW CRIME SHOW

Norwegian production company Cinenord Drama and their Danish partners, Good Company Films are bringing Jørn Lier Horst´s books about Detective Chief Inspector William Wisting to a larger audience.

The film version of Wisting will be a Nordic Noir TV-series, with an international appeal. Timeless and universal crime plots take centre stage amidst a distinctively Norwegian landscape, with a strong sense of the contrasting seasons. William Wisting´s constant challenge is to retain his humanity and empathy while the demands of the job pull him deeper and deeper down into the darkest and most depraved abysses of the human mind.

 – Wisting will be portrayed as a complex, deep character; a man we can both admire and identify with. A fair, caring and experienced detective. This is as much about what he does to the cases, as what the cases do to him, says Silje Hopland Eik, film producer at Cinenord.

The author himself, Jørn Lier Horst, is excited about this venture.

– The team who are working on this are great. I look forward to collaborating with them and watching William Wisting brought to life.

This will be a tense, character-driven series, where William Wisting takes centre stage, and is aided by his team. Integral to the series is the close relationship between Wisting and his daughter, Line, who works as a crime reporter.
– The paths Wisting and his daughter Line take continually cross, and these contrasting angles fuel the plot, says Anni Faurbye Fernandez, CEO and producer of the Danish production company Good Company Films. – Separately, they sit with different pieces of the puzzle, which they can´t reveal to each other, and this increases the tension for the audience.

The film companies have recently optioned the books and look forward to starting their collaboration on the adaptations.
